The basic building block of all websites is HTML, it works great but there are a few problems with it. In order to overcome these problems XHTL was created. Using XHTML allows web designers to build sites that will look the way they are supposed to no matter how you access them. This is the great weakness of HTML that needed to be addressed.
The main reason that you would want to use an XHTML coding service is that it allows your site to be seen by more people. More importantly it allows your site to be seen the way that you intended for people to see it. The problem with building a website with HTML is that it will look different on every browser. You may design a site that looks just the way that you like it on your browser but when people using a different browser open it they are likely going to see a site that is a mess. In order to get around this problem XHTML was created.
The main difference between HTML and XHTML is that you have to be much more strict in the way that you code with XHTML. The great advantage of HTML for coding websites is that it is very easy but this creates a problem. Since there is no strict standard that requires things to be done in a certain way it is impossible for all web browsers to display the site the same way. XHTML gets around this problem by applying rules that are much more strict than those used for HTML. This forces web designers to build sites that will work properly on all web browsers. In theory you could do this with HTML as well if you put in the effort but it is much easier to just use XHTML to build your sites.
In recent years XHTML has started to gain more importance. This is mainly because of the increase in use of things like mobile phones to access the internet. If you are going to build a site that can be viewed on a mobile phone you will need to use XHTML to it. The difference between mobile phones is even bigger than the difference between web browsers this is going to become more and more of an issue. You can design a site that works great on one mobile phone and then won't show up at all on another. Given the massive increase in mobile phone use this is something that you can't allow to happen. Soon more people will access the internet with their phone than their computer. That means that your website has to be built with these people in mind. Since the only way to build a website that will work for all the different users likely to visit is with XHTML it is important that you be able to code with it.
